Why you should remove a tree stump
Over time, that harmless tree stump can create real problems:
New Growth: Some tree species attempt to regenerate from the stump, sending up suckers that drain nutrients from nearby healthy trees and make your yard look unruly.
Pests and Disease: Stumps can harbor termites, carpenter ants, fungi, and even the lingering presence of the disease that brought the tree down in the first place—such as Dutch Elm Disease or Oak Wilt.
Tripping Hazard: Especially in active yards or around children, a stump is a hidden obstacle waiting to cause an accident.
Lawncare Interference: Mowing or landscaping around a stump is a hassle that never quite goes away.
A thoughtful approach
Our process
removing a stump isn’t just about what’s underground. It’s about restoring your yard’s potential.
Here’s how we do it:
Assessment – We inspect the area to identify root spread, soil conditions, and any nearby structures or utilities.
Safe Grinding – Using professional-grade stump grinders, we methodically grind the stump below ground level—typically 4 to 6 inches deep—enough to prevent regrowth and make way for grass, mulch, or replanting.
Clean Finish – We clean up all debris and offer to repurpose stump shavings into mulch for garden beds or tree rings if desired.
Optional Replanting – Want to start fresh? We’ll help you choose and plant a new tree that suits your space, soil, and sunlight.
What happens to the debris?
Don’t worry about cleanup - we’ll take care of it. And since we’re a low-waste operation, you’ll have 3 options for how to handle the leftover chips:
Use the stump chips as mulch for a natural look around the site.
Let us haul it away and we’ll have it composted or recycle it.
And if you’re planning to reseed or replant, we’ll fill and level the hole so you’re ready for the next step.
